  3. qBittorrent

qBittorrent is a bittorrent client programmed in C++ / Qt that uses libtorrent (sometimes called libtorrent-rasterbar) by Arvid Norberg.
It aims to be a good alternative to all other bittorrent clients out there. qBittorrent is fast, stable and provides unicode support as well as many features.

    The main features are:
similar user interfaces with µTorrent (for a smooth transition). integrated and customizable search: on most famous BitTorrent search sites. support for all BitTorrent extensions: Magnet/BitComet, Peer Exchange, DHT, etc. advanced control for trackers, peers, and torrents (torrent queueing and prioritizing). support for UPnP / NAT-PMP port forwarding. bandwidth scheduler and sequential download. IP Filtering (compatible with eMule and PeerGuardian) and IPv6 compliant. detailed torrent info: size, status, seeds, peers, download and upload speed, ratio, etc. by sledgehammer999.
  4. Quibble

Quibble is the custom Windows bootloader - an open-source reimplementation of the files bootmgfw.efi and winload.efi, able to boot every version of Windows from XP to Windows 10 1909. Unlike the official bootloader, it is extensible, allowing you to boot from other filesystems than just NTFS.
This is only a proof of concept at this stage - don't use this for anything serious.

This has been tested with Qemu using the OVMF firmware, with Seabios included as a Compatibility Support Module (CSM). It may work on other VMs or hardware, it may not. You will need the CSM version of OVMF, which isn't the usual one bundled with Qemu. Precompiled version are available: x86 and amd64.
Set up your VM, and install Windows on an NTFS volume. Install WinBtrfs - you will need version 1.6 at least. On modern versions of Windows, turn off Fast Startup in the Control Panel. Shutdown your VM, and copy its hard disk to a Btrfs partition. Surprisingly, there isn't an easy way to copy an NTFS volume exactly - you can try using robocopy on Windows, but you'll run into files you can't easily access, even as Admin. RunAsTI helps, but it's still not easy. Robocopy doesn't like symlinks, either. Better, you can mount the volume on Linux and use rsync. This does have the down side that you'll lose the DOS attributes and the security descriptors. On Windows 8, you will need to use icacls to give C:\Users[USERNAME]\AppData\LocalLow a mandatory integrity level of "Low", otherwise it will crash on login. On some versions of Windows 10 (1607 to 1803?), you will need to give the pseudo-group "ALL APPLICATION PACKAGES" access to C:\Windows\Fonts, or you'll have the amusing sight of Windows not being able to display any text. Extract the Quibble package into your EFI System Partition. It's supposed to work in a subdirectory, but if you have trouble you might need to put it in the root. Adjust the file freeldr.ini, if necessary - the default is for it to boot from the first partition of the first disk. You can also change the SystemPath to e.g. SystemPath=btrfs(1e10b60a-8e9d-466b-a33a-21760829cf3a)\Windows, referring to the partition by UUID rather than number. Add quibble.efi to your list of UEFI boot options, and hope that it works... FAQs
Which versions of Windows does this work on? With the Btrfs driver, this should work on XP, Vista, Windows 7, Windows 8, Windows 8.1, and Windows 10 versions 1507 to 1909. XP and Vista work only in 32-bit mode for the time being. Earlier versions ought to work, as the boot structures were backwards-compatible at that point, but the Btrfs driver won't work.
Which filesystems does this support? The included Btrfs driver, and maybe also the FAT driver that's part of the UEFI specifications. Windows XP, Vista, and 7 will work fine from a FAT volume, though why you'd want to do that is anyone's guess.
How can I extend this? Drop your EFI driver in the drivers folder, and it'll load it on startup.
    How do I compile this? Install a cross-compiler version of GCC - either i686-w64-mingw32-gcc or x86_64-w64-mingw32-gcc - and gnu-efi.
UWP applications / the Start Menu / Calculator / Edge don't work I know. This is at least partly due to the NTFS permissions not being transferred. You can use Win+R to open the Run menu.
Why do I get a message about the Recycle Bin being corrupted? Again, permissions. Let Windows fix it and it won't happen again.
How do I stop Notepad popping up on startup? Mark the files C:\ProgramData\Microsoft\Windows\Start Menu\Programs\Startup\desktop.ini and C:\Users[USERNAME]\AppData\Roaming\Microsoft\Windows\Start Menu\Programs\Startup\desktop.ini.
Why do I get a message about Sequence1 and Sequence2? This means that the Registry is unclean, which we can't currently recover from. If you attach C:\Windows\System32\config\SYSTEM to another machine via Regedit temporarily, it'll fix it. Make sure you shut Windows down properly to avoid having to do this.
Can I boot Btrfs from an arbitrary subvolume, like I can on Linux? Yes - add /SUBVOL=xxx to your Options in freeldr.ini. You can find the number to use on the Properties page of your subvolume. Bear in mind that unlike Linux this is in hexadecimal.

  10. Rufus

  12. Screen Capturer Recorder

This program allows one to "record" your desktop, or even stream it!
It includes some helper "record your screen capture/stream it" and setup utilities. It also includes a helper (virtual-audio-capturer) to record "what you hear/see on your desktop" for vista+ system.
In order to use those you'll want/need the java JRE installed on your system first.  Install from java.com if you don't have it installed.
It also includes a free, general purpose, open source directshow desktop/screen source capture filter.
You can use this with any (directshow compatible) program to capture or stream, like VLC, etc.

    Audio capture
It also includes a directshow source capture filter device for recording "what you hear" in windows 7/vista—any sound card! see https://github.com/rdp/virtual-audio-capture-grabber-device for info/troubleshooting of that audio capture device.
Use some helper programs provided in Start menu → Programs → Screen Capture Recorder → record desktp[/broadcast/XXX
Or use any 3rd party program that can read from a Directshow Capture Device (ex: VLC/FFmpeg).
    VLC example: http://betterlogic.com/roger/2010/07/how-to-use-vlc-as-a-free-open-source-alternative-to-playon-tv
    ffmpeg example:
    $ ffplay -f dshow -i video="screen-capture-recorder"
    $ ffmpeg -f dshow  -i video="screen-capture-recorder"  -r 20 -t 10 screen-capture.mp4 # -t 10 for 10 seconds recording
or combine it with recording "what you hear" audio [vista/windows 7] (using ffmpeg in this example):
    $ ffmpeg -f dshow -i audio="virtual-audio-capturer":video="screen-capture-recorder" yo.mp4
Note also that ffmpeg has a built in "gdigrab" input option you could use instead of screen capture recorder, as well.
The audio device name can be any other dshow audio devices, as well.
Avisynth also works with it. Add it to a filter graph using graphedit, then use DirectShowSource as your input source with that graphedit filename specified.
    gstreamer works, as well, ex:
    $ gst-launch.exe dshowvideosrc device-name=screen-capture-recorder ! ffmpegcolorspace ! directdrawsink
I’ve even had Skype accidentally use it, thinking it was my webcam. Let me know if you want an easier way made for it for anything.
By default, it captures the "full screen" of the main desktop monitor (all windows, overlapping, from there, with aero if vista+, without transparent windows if non aero).
To configure it differently, run the provided "configuration setup utilities/shortcuts" or adjust registry settings before starting a run (advanced users only):
with DWORD keys respected of start_XXX etc …(see the included file {installdir}\configuration_setup_utility\setup_screen_tracker_params.rb for the full list of registry key values available, or see https://github.com/rdp/screen-capture-recorder-to-video-windows-free/blob/master/configuration_setup_utility/setup_screen_tracker_params.rb#L9 )
ex: see configuration_setup_utility\incoming.reg file (though NB that those values are in hex, so editing that file is a bit tedious-- I always just use regedit or the accompanying script utilities and don’t edit it by hand).
To "reset" a value delete its key.

  17. SpeedOut

Do you have a Flash Stick? Yes, of course. Do you know, how fast it is? Will you be able to run program from within it, play a portable Call Of Duty or just quickly copy a film from/to it? You don't know.
When you are going to buy a USB Drive or Stick, you can see big amount of different vendors, and everywhere is label "The BEST". Who is the best? Kingston or Kingmax, PQi or SanDisk, Transcend or Canyon?
    Presenting new utility SpeedOut.

    About this program. Short FAQ.

It's really easy to use this application.  Just one button 2 go. Anyway, lets get into deep and decide, why is my program better then many other. Well, SpeedOut is an application, created for calculating USB drive (stick or external HDD) read/write speed. It is using low-level technology, which allows you to know REAL drive speed, without slowdowns, caused by File System. After program start you can see simple interface:

By pressing Start, program will make four read and four write tests. After that you'll get result for reading and writing. DON'T TOUCH MOUSE AND KEYBOARD DURING THIS OPERATION! Also, you will get a mark for your drive, showing how fast is it.
As you can see, first graph is showing mark on Read Speed, second - on Write Speed. Here it is. The main thing, why program is better then another (like Everest HDD Bench or HDD Tune): no data will be destroyed while writing test is performed! No need to reformat your drive! Nothing more, just one click. Also, at system menu (Alt+Space) you will have two important functions - Save to file (just click enter - program will save file on drive that was checked) and Copy to clipboard (easy way to bounce in chat with your friends).

SpeedOut is fully portable - so you can take it with you wherever you want.

Question: I have a problem, many exe-files on my PC can not run. I double-click and nothing happens!!!
Answer: Probably, you have IndieVolume installed on your Windows. It is using invalid hook data - so, remove IndieVolume - and problem is decided.

Question: Your program is showing different resultsfor one stick. Why?
Answer: It depends on port and time, you were using USB. Just put off your flash, wait five mins and set on. I'll try to make results less different in next version.

Question: Is program working under User-mode.
Answer: Nope. Low-level is only allowed under administrator.
    Possibilities and advantages:
Fully portable No need to reformat your drive Low-level technology Beautiful interface Easy to use - click2go No bugs as soon as you are not disasming it Short tests - realistic results. TOTALLY clean And, of course, free by Mbentefor.

You can't login with Facebook accounts so you will have to create a new Spotify user to login.
The tool will check for the node_modules folder on startup. If it's not there it will take care of the npm install.
    New UI
Bugfix for Usernames with a dot in their name
    New Log in screen
Password will be wiped on log out only
Tool now also downloads album art and attaches it.
You can now download up to 5 playlists in 1 go
Instead of opening a new prompt for downloading output is now in the program
    Bugfix for underscores in usernames
Added security feature to wipe password after download.
You can now download up to 3 playlists in 1 go
    NodeJS launch bugfix
Added option for /Artist/Album file structure
Updated default download folder to the Windows Music folder.
    Updated Layout
    Initial Release
Add option to set download folder (For now songs will be saved to: C:\Users\youruser\Music)
~~Add option to download multiple playlists~~ DONE! Since V1.1
~~Add option to download all mp3's to a single folder~~ DONE! Since V1.0.5 with the Artist/Album option
    ###Additional Comments
If you get any errors please go to "C:\Program Files\nodejs" and see if node.exe and npm.cmd are installed there
To download Albums for now the only way to do it is to add the songs to a playlist and then download that playlist.
Free Accounts get limited after a while though, but starts downloading again afterwards
You can't login with Facebook accounts so you will have to create a new Spotify user to login.
    #####Thanks to /u/dva010/
If you are trying to download an artist that has a '.' at the end of their name, it will create a folder that Windows will not allow you to delete without running a command in cmd.
Pasted command below on how to remove the folder if you guys run into this issue.
Command to delete folder that ends in '.'
    rd /s "\?\C:\Documents and Settings\User\Desktop\Annoying Folder."

  22. toolame

TooLAME is an optimized MPEG Audio Layer 2 encoder.
tooLAME is an optimized Mpeg Audio 1/2 Layer 2 encoder.  It is based heavily on
        - the ISO dist10 code
        - improvement to algorithms as part of the LAME project (www.sulaco.org/mp3)
        - work by myself and other contributors (see CONTRIBUTORS)
    1. edit Makefile
at least change the architecture type (ARCH) to suit your machine.
    2. 'make'
             ./toolame [options] <input> <output>
    Input File
tooLAME parses AIFF and WAV files for file info
raw PCM is assumed if no header is found
        for stdin use a -
    Output File
file is automatically renamed from *.* to *.mp2
        for stdout use a -
    Input Options
        -s [int]
if inputting raw PCM sound, you must specify the sample rate
            default sample rate is 44.1khz.
            downmix from stereo to mono
if the incoming file is stereo, combine the audio into
            a single channel
force byte-swapping of the input.  (current endian detection is dodgy,
so if toolame produces only noise, use -x )
swap the LR channels of a stereo file
    Output Options
        -m [char]
            the encoding mode (default 'j')
            's' stereo
            'd' dual channel
            'j' joint stereo
            'm' mono
        -p [int]
which psy model to use (default '1')
            Different models for the psychoacoustics
            Models: -1 to 4
        -b [int]
            the total bitrate
            For 48/44.1/32kHz default = 192
            For 24/22.05/16kHz default = 96
        -v [int]
            Switch on VBR mode.
The higher the number the better the quality.
            Useful range -10 to 10.
            See README.VBR for details.
fast mode turns off calculation of the psychoacoustic model.
Instead a set of default values are assumed
        -q [int]
quick mode calculates the psy model every 'num' frames.
        -d emp
            de-emphasis (default 'n')
            mark as copyright
            mark as original
            add error protection
            force padding bits off
            add DAB extensions
        -t [int]
'talkativity' setting. 0 = no message. 3 = too much information
        toolame sound.wav
This will encode sound.wav to sound.mp2 using the default bitrate of 192 kbps
and using the default psychoacoustic model (model 1)
        toolame -p 2 -v 5 sound.wav newfile.mp2
Encode sound.wav to newfile.mp2 using psychoacoustic model 2 and encoding
with variable bitrate. The high value of the "-v" argument means that
the encoding will tend to favour higher bitrates.
        toolame -p 2 -v -5 sound.wav newfile.mp2
Same as example above, except that the negative value of the "-v" argument
means that the lower bitrates will be favoured over the higher ones.
        cat sound.pcm | toolame -s 22050 -f -b 96 - newfile.mp2
Toolame is encoding from stdin at a bitrate of 96kbps and is using the
'fast' mode which means that no psychoacoustic modelling is done. The
input file is raw pcm so the sample rate needs to be specified (22050Hz)

  24. Transmission

Transmission is a fast, easy, and free BitTorrent client. It comes in several flavors:
A native Mac OS X GUI application GTK+ and Qt GUI applications for Linux, BSD, etc. A headless daemon for servers and routers A web UI for remote controlling any of the above
    Open Source
Transmission is an open source, volunteer-based project. Unlike some BitTorrent clients, Transmission doesn't play games with its users to make money:
Transmission doesn't bundle toolbars, pop-up ads, flash ads, twitter tools, or anything else. It doesn't hold some features back for a payware version. Its source code is available for anyone to review. We don't track our users, and our website and forums have no third-party ads or analytics. Easy
Transmission is designed for easy, powerful use. We've set the defaults to Just Work and it only takes a few clicks to configure advanced features like watch directories, bad peer blocklists, and the web interface. When Ubuntu chose Transmission as its default BitTorrent client, one of the most-cited reasons was its easy learning curve.
In separate benchmarks, Linux Format and Lacrocivious both found Transmission to use less CPU than any other GUI client. It even used less CPU than some non-GUI clients.
Transmission also has the lowest memory footprint of any major BitTorrent client.
Imageshack chose Transmission for its BitTorrent farms because the competition requires amounts of memory several times greater than Transmission.
Transmission's small footprint is one reason why many home device manufacturers, such as FON, Belkin, and Networked Media Tank ship with Transmission. When Belkin and Vuze Inc. partnered to write a Torrent Genie to let people who ran Vuze and owned a Belkin router keep sharing files even when Vuze wasn't running, they decided to use Transmission -- not Vuze's own BitTorrent client -- on the router.
Unlike many cross-platform applications, Transmission integrates seamlessly with your operating system.
The Mac OS X interface is written in Objective-C and uses Growl notifications and dock badging to keep you informed.

The GTK+ interface has been carefully written to follow the GNOME Human Interface Guidelines. If your desktop supports popup notifications, desktop sounds, and a system tray, the GTK+ interface will make use of them.
Transmission has the features you want from a BitTorrent client: encryption, a web interface, peer exchange, magnet links, DHT, µTP, UPnP and NAT-PMP port forwarding, webseed support, watch directories, tracker editing, global and per-torrent speed limits, and more.
